It’s important to speak openly and candidly about mental health in the workplace, regardless of whether anyone is actively struggling themselves. Having regular discussions about mental health is a key part of beating the stigma, as it normalises mental health problems as something a lot of people deal with on a daily basis.
Have Mental Health Tools and Resources Readily Available
A key part of improving mental health in the workplace is having sure tools and resources are readily available. These should be up to date, accurate and helpful for a range of different mental health struggles. If someone feels as though they need help, they should be able to rely on their workplace to offer practical help and advice.
Promote Self Care and Mental Health Days
Though a lot of employers are now realising that some
employees occasionally need a day off to check in with their mental health,
some are still failing to do so. Taking a much needed day off for self-care and
stepping away from the stresses of the workplace can make a big difference.
Allowing an employer to have a mental health day could prevent more serious
problems further down the line.
With mental health being becoming such an epidemic, companies are realising this and are putting procedures in place to improve their worker’s mental health. When you are physically fit, you tend to perform better. The same applies for your mental fitness. When you are mentally well, you improve your thinking, decision-making, creativity, and relationships.
